We all need a vacation now and then – so when this horse owner decided to take a break for a few weeks, she made sure someone was there to look after her equine love. The days away ticked by and when it was finally time to come back home, the woman was eager to see how her horse would react when they saw each other again.
Thankfully, she had the camera running. The moment the horse spotted its owner across the field, it hustled over to say hello! It at first began trotting, then broke out into a full gallop, eager to see her.
Once the horse caught up to its owner, it began nuzzling her hair and face, recognizing its owner’s scent and sight. You can see the excitement in the horse’s mannerisms.
Then the sweet dapple gray stood still while its human slipped the halter over its head, likely excited at the thought of going for a good hard ride across the lush green pasture.
According to Seeker, horses bond with humans in a permanent manner and can understand what we say most of the time. They can develop and deep, affectionate bond when treated with love and compassion.
The website says that “[Horses] understand words better than expected, according to the research, and possess ‘excellent memories,’ allowing horses to not only recall their human friends after periods of separation, but also to remember complex, problem-solving strategies for ten years or more.”
In fact, “the bond with humans likely is an extension of horse behavior in the wild, since horses value their own horse relatives and friends, and are also open to new, non-threatening acquaintances,” the website says. It’s clear to see that this horse and human share a special bond – one that will only get stronger over time!
Watch this heartwarming reaction for yourself and see just how thrilled the horse is to be reunited with its owner once again.
This is proof that animals and humans can be best friends!
